2: Seeing Brain Wave Data, and Saving Files"Open Brain Note" file. Setup and save a file. 2.1: Hardware SetupCheck to make sure that all the hardware setup is correct. See 1: The hardware setup and software installation 2.2: HeadbandPut headband on the forehead. If using a 2 Channel system, put the ear clip on one ear. Caution : don't hurrt the ear. 2.3: Power ON TransmitterPower ON the transmitters. If using a 2 Channel system, be sure to turn the two transmitter switches ON. 2.4: ON ReceiverTurn ON the left side of the receiver switch. If using a 2 Channel system, switch the two receiver switches ON. 2.5: Run the "IBVA4" Application2.6: Select Menu> "IBVA4/Preferences..."
2.7: "Note" PreferencesStart time and Current time are the same when first running IBVA4. Start time is stopped when you start to record, or when you start to play, or when the Current time point is 00:00:00 (hh:mm:ss). Click "Goto Beginning" to go to Current time point: 00:00:00. Max recording time default is 01:00:00 which means 1 Hour. Menu "Recording/Max Time->" adjust Max recording time. Recording monitor and control: Default start mode is "Rec" and is "ON" at the start point 00:00:00. The slider can move the Current time point. Type Name, Info, Comment 1, Comment 2 field is for recording this experience. The open file information field appears when you open the "Brain Note" file, which is created with IBVA4. * Save the "Brain Note" file to archive your recording. Do not open many windows simultaneously, and do not run many applications simultaneously. * The Max recording time for the IBVA4 V4.0.8 version is 04:00:00. See this test image below. 2.8: "Device" PreferencesSelect "Channel 1 ", or "Channel 2 ", or "LR + Heart (1, 2, 3 CH), or "2 sets of L & R (1, 2, 3, 4 CH)" in the IBVA Hardware setup. The default is "2 Channel". For 1 Channel setupSelect the USB port 1 name* using the left popup menu. Click "Port 1 ON". You will need to wait a few seconds for the receiver to startup. "Port 1 initialized successfully" will show in the Message field, and "CH 1 ON" will also appear in a message field. You will see that a red LED is ON one of the receivers. For 2 Channel setupSelect the USB port 2 name* (need to select a different name than port 1 ) Use the right popup menu. Click "Port 2 ON", and then you will need to wait a few seconds for the receiver to startup. "Port 2 initialized successfully" will show in the Message field, and"CH 2 ON" will also appear in a message field. You will see a red LED is ON both receivers now. For other Device configuration, repeat setup.* if you do not see the message "... initialized successfully", or the LED red lights are not ON the receivers, then you need to check the USB serial adapter connection, and the cable connection, USB serial adapter device driver installation.Some company's USB serial adapters do not work correctly depending on which Mac OSX version of the Operating System you are using. Check with the company to get a new driver software. * Port name will depend on the USB serial adapter company and the Mac system.

2.10: Back to 7: "Note" PreferencesNow we can see current time point update and slider moving as a Recording mode. Any time can change current time point use slider, but if do so, new recording start from at that point. 2.11: Save Brain Data and Note FileClick "Brain Note" window the title is "untitled" for the default. You can type or draw graph in the Brain Note window. Select "Tools/Show Tools" shows Tolls for drawing and typing. Select popup menu ( CH 1, CH 2, Coherence ) to show simple graph on the Brain Note window. Detail use of Brain Note window is 11: New Brain Note
Select "File/Save". Type file name and save file. This "Brain Note" file contained all brain data and other setup which are in the preferences. * Save time for 1 hour 2 channel Brain Note file is about 30 to 60 seconds, depending on the Mac's speed. File size is about 12 MB.
2.12: Quit "IBVA4"Then turn the two transmitter's Power switches to OFF. Alkaline batteries work continuously about 8 hours. Standard and rechargeable batteries work continuously about 1 to 2 hours. Open file2.1: Run "IBVA4" then Open Brain Note FileSelect "File/Open Brain Note". Chose the file that you would like to open, or select file from "File/Open Recent ->". That file name will show in the " Brain Note" window, then automatically the brain data file will start to play back the brain data file which is in the" Brain Note" file. If you open another "Brain Note" file, then the brain data file which youjust opened will play back. Always the last Opened file is the only file that will play back, even if other Brain Note windows are opened. 2.2: "PreSet" PreferencesThis window is used to modify Save file information and Open file mode. The default is "Open all, except device port setup, MIDI port setup, and recording mode" in the Open Preference setup section, and "Save all" in the Save Preference setup section. A:After running the IBVA4 application, setup this window to turn on "Device USB port setup" and "Max recording time" in the Open Preference setup section. Then Open the " Brain Note" file. All USB port setups are done automatically. Setup information is in the "Brain Note" file which opened. Then start to recordthe brain waves from the time point 0 to max recording time. This max recording time is the saved data length of the opened "Brain Note" file. B:After running the IBVA4 application, setup this window to make on "Device USB port setup", "Max recording time" and "Recording mode" in the Open Preference setup section. Then Open the "Brain Note" file. All USB porst and recording mode setups are done automatically. Setup information is in the "Brain Note" file which opened. Then start to record brain wave from time point at the same time point as the file created. Max recording time is also the same as the file created. This is the way to continue recording, save, open, record save .... into same "Brain Note" file. If you save a file with "Pause" mode, then open this file with this PreSet setup, and start with "Pause" mode. Click "Rec" to start recording from that time point. * If you change USB connection setups or runs with other Macs, then DO NOT TURN ON "Device USB port setup". * Open time for 1 hour 2 channel Brain Note file is about 15 to 30 seconsd, depending on the Mac speed. masahiro kahata
