Like all of you, I liked knowing that I wandered the planet along with Doug, even if we didn't share the same neighborhood. I collaborated with him on the infamous videotape, The Eternal Frame, our reenactment of the Kennedy assassination.
I was JFK and he was a glorious, if somewhat reticent. Jackie. We've stayed in touch over the years and I'm deeply saddened by his departure. I'll miss his emailed rants on post 9/11 politics and publicity bursts for new projects. But mostly I'll miss his refusal to back down.
My sympathies go out to all of us but most particularly to his parents, Bob and Caroline Michels.
