Hello All,

Upon returning from a vacation late last nite, I sifted through mail and found this enclosed letter from Doug dated June 11th. I thought you would all like to see it since the jist of the letter is that he was really enjoying himself and in his own words was having a "great trip!"

Today is a sad day, Doug was/is a very unique and special person in my life and (as in the many emails) in many of yours too. I met Doug as a freshman at Catholic in 1987 when he was a guest critic in the architecture school. (Thanks! Ann C.) He sent me a fantastic, massive colored pencil drawing of what he thought my project "could be" - he said it inspired him and I was moved and inspired and so complemented. In the doubtful, and in difficult early years of architecture school - his sketch kept me going.

We have stayed in touch and hoped to collaborate on a House of the Future together someday. He has continued to inspire and encourage me through the years and always took the time to sit and sketch, write letters and forward all sorts of things that I may find interesting. I have enjoying hearing about all of his intellectual adventures tempered with humility, false arrogance (to be funny) sarcasm, wit, and downright genius.

In short, he made the time in his busy life to be a good friend and I will miss him dearly,
