Humans and Dolphins Floating
In 1976 Michaels said, "While others are attempting to break the language barrier of Dolphinese by studying the dolphins in holding tanks, our goal will be to exchange the information, energy, and mythologies of our cultures."

From Louis Mackall

Back when I was in school, Doug's name was spelled "Dug".  Our little consulting business was called "Red 5".  I think we even had some stationery printed up.  I'm sure that somewhere in his drawer the rubber stamp lies yet, weeping.

In '99  there was an article on Dug in the Houston newspaper.  Pasted below is what I wrote back to her.

>Dear Shaila Dewan,
Many thanks for your wonderfully complete biography of an old friend at www.houstonpress.com.  If you are old enough, you may remember those many leafed metal contraptions which divided the ice cubes from each other as they formed in the freezer.  Many of us have discovered that we have that same thing in our own brains.

Dug is one of those few people who discovered this early and had the nerve to lift it out before quietly sliding the full undivided tray back into his freezer.  Well, surprise, it proceeded to thaw while still plugged into the wall.  "Less is More" morphs into "Only Connect" and the power of our imagination is discovered anew, again.  Of course the Thought Police are upset!

Why, I wouldn't be surprised if Dug has removed the walls which the wall-plugs of his house have called home for all these years, leaving dangling participles of electricity here and there to annoy the Architectural Academics and delight applauding freezers. Modern Appliances have never had such a loyal friend and fearless leader.Louis Mackall --
