From Skip BlumbergSubject: Doug Michels e-tribute The e-tributes to our pal are impressive. Thanks to all for filling in the gaps. I met Doug in 1972 in Miami at the TVTV coverage of the National Presidential Conventions and collaborated on several Ant Farm video projects in the '70's. We stayed in touch since. Jane and I also received post cards from his last trip to Australia. Doug was a good friend and the artist-hero. His life story is the stuff of feature films, novels, even operas. His presence is indelible and, although we'll miss the visits and emails, he'll live with us forever. He'd likely have appreciated the ironies and mysteries surrounding his passing and, in a different way, the coverage in the media. There is an urge to go to Australia to find out more. I do plan to attend the memorial on June 29 in Virginia and look forward to being with Doug's family and friends. Skip |
