Professional Background

In June 2000, Paras Kaul came to George Mason University as an Assistant Professor in a graduate program in Electronic Visualization at Mississippi State University. Prior to that time, she was a Lecturer at California State University, Los Angeles, during which time she also lectured at UCLA and UC Santa Barbara. Having completed BA degrees in English and art, and MA course requirements in photography, Paras received an MFA in computer graphics and animation at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1983. As Mason's Director of Web Communications, she is also a member of the university's Web Team, Technology Council, and Security Council, which committees determine current and future directions for technology at the university. Additionally, Paras is on the Advisory Board for the Mason Media Lab, and she is often an adjunct assistant professor in the Art and Visual Technology Department at the university. More recently she is a member of the DC_SIGCHI Chapter of ACM SIGCHI (Special Interest Group for Computer-Human Interface) and also a member of the Computational Modeling in the Arts Committee in the United Kingdom. |
